Description
A delicious Apple Frangipane Tart featuring a biscuit base with a rich almond-flavored filling and thinly sliced apples. A perfect dessert for special occasions, best served warm with cream or ice cream.
Lighter Version
Use a store-bought tart base to skip the biscuit base preparation and save time. Skip peeling the apples if using softer varieties like Golden Delicious.
Ingredients
- 175g digestive biscuits
- 75g butter
- 200g Bramley apples
- 75g caster sugar
- 75g ground almonds
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 50g flaked almonds
- 2 eggs

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6
- Put the digestive biscuits in a resealable freezer bag and crush with a rolling pin into fine crumbs
- Melt butter in a pan, mix with biscuit crumbs, and press the mixture evenly over the base and sides of a tart tin
- Chill in the fridge while preparing the filling
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then mix in eggs, ground almonds, and almond extract until combined
- Peel and thinly slice the apples
- Arrange apple slices over the biscuit base
- Spread the frangipane filling over the apples, level the surface, and sprinkle with flaked almonds
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden-brown and set
- Let the tart cool for 15 minutes before removing from the tin
- Serve warm with cream, crème fraiche, or ice cream
