A warm and comforting Apple & Blackberry Crumble, combining tart apples and sweet blackberries with a buttery crumble topping. Perfect for a cozy dessert, served with ice cream.
Lighter Version
Skip the pre-baking of the crumble topping and directly bake it with the fruit filling to save time. Use store-bought crumble mix for convenience.
Ingredients
- 120g plain flour
- 60g caster sugar
- 60g butter
- 300g Braeburn apples
- 30g butter
- 30g demerara sugar
- 120g blackberries
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- Ice cream for serving

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190C (170C fan/gas 5)
- In a bowl, mix the flour and caster sugar
- Add butter and rub it into the flour to form a light crumb texture
- Spread the mixture on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden
- For the compote, peel, core, and dice the apples
- In a saucepan, melt butter and demerara sugar over medium heat until it turns to light caramel
- Add apples and cook for 3 minutes, then add blackberries and cinnamon, cooking for 3 more minutes
- Remove from heat and let sit for 2-3 minutes
- Spoon the fruit mixture into an ovenproof dish, top with the crumble, and bake for another 5-10 minutes
- Serve warm with ice cream
